Steel Sheds: It’s a New Era of Steel
The steel industry is about to undergo a radical shift.
The future of steel, in a world that’s increasingly reliant on renewable energy, is shaping up to be one of the most important and exciting changes in the history of manufacturing.
It will be built on the principles of sustainability, and on the principle of a fair and equal playing field.
A new wave of steel production will be powered by solar panels, which will help create a clean energy future that’s also one of our most important national assets.
And in a region that’s always been the land of the rising sun, there’s a lot of potential for solar energy to help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels and reduce our reliance on the industrial-scale steel industry.
In this episode, we speak with steel magnolia co-founder and CEO Andrea Steele about what’s at stake in her company’s new shift away from steel.
Andrea Stelle is the co-founding partner and managing director of Steel Magnolias, a $200 million steel producer and distributor in Wisconsin.
She’s the creator of the first ever global steel magnolia network, Steel Shed, and she is also the CEO of Steel Works, a company that develops and manufactures steel for commercial and industrial applications.
Andrea is also a founder and chairman of the Steel Industry Leaders Alliance, a coalition of over 500 leading industrial leaders.
She recently wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post, titled “The Steel Industry Can’t Go It Alone.”
Andrea Stiles has worked in the steel industry since 1996, working in steel mills and manufacturing facilities in Michigan and Wisconsin.

In 2003, she founded Steel Magnolia, a small company focused on making high-quality steel for the global market.
In 2009, Steel Magnoliases largest product, a steel bed liner, was approved for distribution in Germany and the U.K. Steel Magnols first customer was the National Retail Federation.
The company now operates more than 200 manufacturing facilities and employs more than 300 people across the United States and Canada.
