The steel roof is one of the safest ways to prevent a collapse.
But it’s also a major cause of damage when it comes to structural damage, according to the American Institute of Architects.
For that reason, the AIA recommends that people with steel roofs install steel railing, reinforcing the steel frame to the exterior.
You might also want to install an additional layer of reinforcement around the roof to prevent it from collapsing under its own weight.
But that won’t prevent a roof from falling down, and you might want to consider a higher-quality railing for that purpose.
The AIA offers this helpful video series on building safer structures with the goal of getting people up on steel roofs safely.
