Steel workers at a factory in northern Michigan will be getting their first taste of the new mill, which will open next year.
The new steel plant is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs, according to the Wayne County Economic Development Corp. The company says the plant will produce approximately 200,000 tons of steel a year.
It’s the second steel plant announced in Michigan this year.
Wayne County has about 400,000 residents and is a hub for steel production in the region.
